From the world of the stock exchange to the museum – Bibelhaus gets a unique artist’s bible
Frankfurt / Stuttgart – Frankfurt is not only the banking and stock exchange metropolis. It is also the city of museums. In the middle of the museum embankment, the Bibelhaus Erlebnis Museum invites you on a journey into the world of the Old and New Testament. On Tuesday, August 20, the institution received a particularly exclusive edition of the Holy Scriptures in pictures: The limited golden Wiedmann Bible ART edition number 55 of 333 copies.
It was presented by Martin Wiedmann. He is not unknown in Frankfurt. He used to be a banker. Until he retired. However, this time his calculation did not work out. Because nothing came of retirement. The reason for this was a unique work of art that he found in the attic of his late father’s gallery. He had painted a unique Bible for over 16 years and let it fall into oblivion. But then his son Martin discovered the 1.2 km long Leporello and had it digitized.
In a ceremonial handover, Wiedmann presented the Wiedmann Bible ART-Edition to the Bibelhaus Erlebnis Museum in Frankfurt.
“My father always wanted people to experience the Bible in a new way, to encounter it in a new way. The Bibelhaus Erlebnis Museum also wants to bring people closer to the Bible. That is precisely why I am delighted to be able to present the limited golden ART edition to this extraordinary adventure museum, ”says Martin Wiedmann.
Museum director Dr. h.c. Jürgen Schefzyk accepted the book edition of the world’s longest painted Bible.
“This picture Bible fits perfectly in our museum, because it shows that people have been enthusiastic and inspired by the Bible at all times. In the Bible House, our guests can follow a path that extends from the earliest biblical stories to the present day. The Wiedmann Bible with 3333 pictures presents the whole diversity of the biblical tradition ”, says Dr. h.c. Jürgen Schefzyk.
After the handover, the Wiedmann Bible ART-Edition will be on view in the Adventure Museum until September 1st, together with an experience terminal and a reprint of the book Genesis. Visitors to the Frankfurt Museumsuferfest can experience the presentation as a special highlight in the Bible House on August 24th and 25th.
In addition to the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz, the bibliorama – the Biblical Museum in Stuttgart, the Duchess Anna Amalia Library in Weimar and the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC (USA), another important educational institution has added the German artist Bible to its inventory.
The ART edition was created in collaboration with the German Bible Society and the renowned photographer and designer Manfred Rieker. The edition contains the complete images of the original and is supplemented by comments, a biography of the artist and various Bible verses from the revised Luther Bible 2017. The gold edition is limited to 333 copies. The red and black editions are available in an edition of 3,000.
